Hope in the Future

World Meeting of Families – Family Mass

A Family Mass was held at both Corpus Christi and St. Herbert’s churches on Sunday 19th June to mark the end of the year for St. Joseph and the World Meeting of Families.

The World Meeting of Families is held every 3 years and this year it is in Rome on 22nd – 26th June.

Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost takes place 50 days after Easter Sunday, marking the end of Eastertide.

This year Pentecost Sunday was on 5th June and we held  a special Pentecost Liturgy at the Masses that weekend.

At Pentecost we pray together to the Holy Spirit that more of our community become practically involved in our parish. In the coming months we will be asking all parishioners to think about what contribution they can make, and to consider how they can be more actively involved in the life of our parish.

Speaking about the Hope in the Future initiative Bishop John said:                                                                                   “I ask for your active participation in both prayer and action. If we were all to undertake just one task in our parishes we would transform the witness we give and make a difference to the lives of so many people”.

Memorial Mass

On Monday 15th November 2021 the parish celebrated a Mass at 6.30pm at St Herbert’s church to celebrate the lives of those friends and family members who died during the Covid pandemic.

During the Mass a candle was lit in memory of each of the deceased.

Eternal rest grant unto them, Oh Lord.

May they rest in peace.

Stage 4: Proclaiming the Good News

Our parish held a Holy Hour at Corpus Christi church on Sunday 3rd October 2021 to launch Stage 4 of our Hope in the Future journey, focussing on ‘Proclaiming the Good News’,

Parishioners together with pupils from all three of our parish schools joined together for a wonderful celebration.

Our schools and the celebrations of Baptism, weddings, funerals, Christmas and Easter Liturgies, bring a significant number of people into contact with our parish. These times provide us with opportunities to engage people with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Fourth Stage will place an emphasis on providing formation to deepen this engagement.
